Meet The Groskreutz Family

JR’s Barn is a family-run event venue. Joel and Renae Groskreutz have always had a passion for hosting parties and entertaining family and friends.

You can find Joel in the background talking to the guys about motorcycles, welding or anything that has to do with mechanics. Renae, on the other hand, can always be found front and center right in the middle of the action! Even from a young age, she knew she loved being in charge. Renae’s heart beats to help support couples and their families throughout the wedding process. She has been blessed with the gifts of helping to ease stress on couples leading up to the wedding and day-of coordinating to provide couples with the most wonderful and memorable experience possible. When the celebration is complete, Renae will be right in the middle gladly helping to clean up.

Now, JR’s Barn is more than just Joel and Renae. The whole family is involved in the business. Their daughter Amanda plays a significant role on wedding day. She ensures the bride has whatever she needs and helps distract well-meaning family members to avoid any undue stress. Amanda also operates Capture the Heart Video Service, which is an entry level video service capturing the moments and voices throughout day so you can remember them for many anniversaries to come. She also enjoys “interviewing” the guests for their favorite memory or blessings they may have for the couple. Amanda is married to Charlie and they have two young boys, Louis who is 5 and Billy who is 2 years old. Charlie enjoys seeing the style of each couple. He also makes corny jokes when he bartends. Louis, their eldest son, enjoys meeting and playing with new friends that come to the Barn. It is wonderful to see them running and playing in a great big yard and not have to worry about them running in the road.

Next up in the family is the class clown. Every family has one, right?! Ben is the life of the party. He is a Junior at Mankato State University. Ben has a band and also DJ’s for couples. The Barn Boys Entertainment is a 7-piece band that is lively and engaging. They do everything from old country to new pop hits. Ben does a great job merging humor, fun, and intimate memories for the whole wedding day celebration. This includes sound for the ceremony, reception, and dance.

Joel and Renae’s daughter Anna is the “A” student of the family. Exactly who you want to take care of linens! She has 3 different color linens that she offers to the couples. She also makes pizza for the guests before the end of the night.

The Groskreutz family loves people! Over the years they have welcomed overseas exchange students into their family. Even after the students returned home they have come back to help with events at the Barn. One young man from Colombia met and is engaged to a student that came from Germany. Daniel and Tirza met at the barn and now live in Germany. When they are back to visit they help welcome the guests and love to help with serving during the reception. You can always get a fun story from Daniel!

Marina is our German daughter who is married to Charlie’s brother. She is excellent at everything she does and has a knack for getting things done right. Being married herself, she has helped us add to our “Something Borrowed Room.” She also helps clean and prepare for each couple to come so that they get the best and most that JR’s Barn has to offer.

This family works hard and plays harder! They enjoy riding motorcycles, going on adventures, and going to church together. Most of all they love working together and serving the people that come to the Barn.
